Vloethemveld is a unique nature and forest area on the border of Zedelgem and Jabbeke with a rich cultural-historical and mysterious past. The Count of Flanders, the Sint-Janshospitaal of Bruges, the farms from the area and the Second World War, among others, played an important role there. From 1944 to 1946 a prisoners of War Camp, a British, lay in Vloethemveld. An experienced guide takes the class through the history of Vloethemveld, at the level of the oldest children of primary education. After booking a guided tour, the teacher will receive 2 workbooks: 1 for the students and 1 for the teacher with the final attainment targets. These materials can be used in class to prepare for the visit to Vloethemveld or to do a follow-up discussion.
During the visit, the guide takes the group through the camp area, where the story of Vloethemveld, the history of the military past, about the war, the prisoner of war, but also the special natural values ​​of the area, are interpreted.
Work is done around the final objectives science and technology, man and society and musical education.
